Course Information

Introduction

This one-day course explains how to get and use a CSCS card. It covers card types, eligibility rules and the evidence employers expect. You will review the core health and safety topics that underpin site entry checks. Having the right card reduces delays at site gate and helps you show baseline competence to employers.

Objectives

1. Identify the correct CSCS card type for your role and how to meet its eligibility criteria.
2. Prepare and organise the documents and qualifications needed to submit a CSCS application.
3. Demonstrate understanding of core health, safety and welfare topics commonly tested for site access.
4. Practice test-style questions and apply test-taking techniques to reduce common errors.
5. Apply straightforward site card-check and compliance steps to maintain lawful site access.

1. Construction labourers and site operatives applying for an operative-level CSCS card.
2. Apprentices in bricklaying, carpentry, roofing, groundworks or similar trades starting on-site.
3. Plant operators seeking operative-level cards or advice on documentation.
4. Self-employed tradespeople and subcontractors who need to clear site entry checks.
5. Site supervisors, foremen or safety coordinators responsible for verifying workers' CSCS status.
